Blaze Breaks Out on A320 Engine at Heathrow

Firefighters from Heathrow Airport and the London Fire Brigade raced to tackle a fire on an aircraft engine at London Heathrow.

Emergency Scramble on Airport’s Western Perimeter

The alarm was raised just after 2pm on Sunday, November 20, when ground staff spotted smoke coming from the engine of an A320 plane on the ground. Crews swiftly arrived at the Western Perimeter Road to tackle the flames.

Fire Quickly Tamed, No Impact on Flights

Multiple fire appliances from Heathrow’s onsite service and the LFB doused the engine with foam to stop the blaze spreading. The flames were quickly extinguished, and the fire is not believed to have affected any departing or arriving flights.

It’s still unclear if there were passengers on board or the plane’s current status. The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for further details.
