Fire crews rushed to Tilbury Docks at 8.09pm tonight after reports of a scrap metal blaze in the hold of a docked vessel. The fire is small but stubborn, prompting a controlled response.

Dockside Crane to the Rescue

Teams are using a dockside crane to carefully remove scrap metal from the ship. Station Manager Dave Bond said: “This is a small fire on board the ship. We are working with crews at Tilbury Docks to carry out a controlled unloading of the scrap metal and extinguish the fire.”
