Blaze Breaks Out at Southampton Flat – Firefighters Race to Rescue

Fire Erupts on Second Floor Flat

Flames tore through a flat on Woods Close in Southampton on Tuesday evening. Fire crews sprang into action after the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) Control Room received alerts just after 7:30 pm.

Teams from Hightown and St Mary’s stations arrived swiftly to find the fire raging on the second floor. Armed with breathing apparatus, firefighters battled the blaze head-on, utilising aerial platforms and high-pressure water jets to bring it under control.

Smoke Cleared; Residents Treated

Once the fire was tamed, crews deployed powerful ventilation fans to clear the thick smoke engulfing the building. Three people suffered smoke inhalation and received medical aid from South Central Ambulance Service paramedics. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

Fire Under Control, Cause Unknown

After nearly three hours of intense work, firefighters declared the blaze over at 10:20 pm and returned to base. The cause of the fire remains a mystery as investigators probe the scene.
