Massive tyre blaze rips through Southend yard in the early hours
Huge fire erupts on London Road
Firefighters from Essex County Fire and Rescue rushed to a major blaze at a yard on London Road, Southend, just after 2.45am this Wednesday.
Two tonnes of tyres and several vehicles were engulfed in flames, causing serious damage and raising concerns of the fire spreading.
Brave crews stop fire from spreading
Incident Commander David Gomez praised his team’s quick work, saying:
“Our crews did a fantastic job of surrounding the fire and stopping it from spreading to nearby buildings.”
“Thanks to their hard work and skill, we brought the flames under control and doused the fire within 90 minutes.”
Investigation underway after blaze
Fire officers are now launching an investigation to find out what sparked the fiery inferno.
