Blaze Destroys Bungalow Ground Floor – Woman and Kids Escape Unharmed
A London bungalow’s ground floor was gutted by fire, with the roof also suffering damage. Luckily, a woman and two children escaped before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters Rush to Scene
The London Fire Brigade was called at 5:32pm and got the blaze under control by 7:17pm. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Hillingdon, Hayes, Southall, and Heathrow stations tackled the flames.
London Ambulance crews checked the trio on site, but no serious injuries were reported.
Candle Chaos Sparks Fire
The blaze is believed to have started accidentally due to candles. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned:
“Candles, incense sticks, and oil burners are among the most common causes of house fires. We recommend swapping traditional candles for safer flameless LED alternatives. If you do use real candles, never leave them unattended.”
They added: “Always place candles in heat-resistant holders on stable surfaces where they can’t be knocked over.”
Fire Safety Tips: Don’t Get Burned
- Always extinguish candles, incense, and oil burners when leaving the room or before bed.
- Keep flames away from flammable items like curtains, furniture, clothes, and hair.
- Remember tea lights get extremely hot and can melt through plastic surfaces without proper holders.
- LED candles are a safer alternative – they won’t cause fires if you fall asleep or forget to blow them out.
Stay safe and switch to candle alternatives to avoid another fiery disaster like this one!
