Flat Fire Breaks Out on Fourth Floor of London Block
A flat on the fourth floor of a five-storey building suffered fire damage yesterday. One woman escaped the blaze before fire crews arrived but was rushed to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Quick Response From Firefighters
Station Commander Stephen Irvine praised the rapid response: “Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to contain the fire to the room of origin.” The Brigade were called at 1.18pm and had the blaze under control by 2.35pm.
Major Fire Operation In East London
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Whitechapel, Bethnal Green, Plaistow, Dowgate, and East Greenwich stations tackled the fire. The woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews before being taken to hospital.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
