Blaze Breaks Out at Regent’s Park Nursing Home – Four Rescued by Firefighters
Early Morning Fire Rips Through First Floor Flat
A fierce fire gutted most of a first-floor flat in a four-storey residential nursing home on Little Albany Street, Regent’s Park, early this morning. The alarm was raised at 7:19am, with flames spreading rapidly through the building.
Heroic Rescue: Four People Saved from Smoke and Flames
Firefighters in full breathing gear stormed the scene and rescued four people trapped inside the smoke-filled flat. Two men and a woman were led to safety down an internal staircase while wearing state-of-the-art escape hoods. Another man was also pulled out from the blazing first floor.
Our teams managed to get everyone out safely using escape hoods that protect against deadly fire gases,” said a fire brigade spokesperson.
Fire Escape Hoods Prove Lifesavers
The high-tech escape hoods provide up to 15 minutes of protection against toxic gases including carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide. They can be worn by both conscious and unconscious victims to filter harmful smoke and ease breathing until firefighters bring them to safety.
Medical Response and Firefighting Efforts
- Two people received treatment at the scene.
- Two were rushed to hospital by ambulance crews.
- Four fire engines and 25 firefighters from Euston, Paddington, and Soho tackled the fire.
- The blaze was declared under control by 9:14am.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the fire’s cause.
