Massive Blaze Tears Through Thamesmead Garages
Firefighters raced to a dramatic fire on Gadwall Way, Thamesmead, where a row of garages was engulfed in flames. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters fought the blaze, dousing the fire quickly but not before severe damage was done. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Four Garages Destroyed, Nearby Homes Damaged
The inferno completely destroyed four single-storey garages and caused damage to parts of three terraced houses nearby. The London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers were slammed with nearly 30 emergency calls reporting the fire.
Rapid Response from Multiple Fire Stations
The alarm was raised at 18:55, and firefighters had the blaze under control by 20:25. Crews from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Bexley, and Greenwich stations worked together to contain the fire and protect local residents.
