Blaze Breaks Out in Hailsham Home – Firefighters Race to Scene
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) scrambled to a house fire on Saxon Close, Hailsham, this evening, 18 October 2024. The alarm sounded at 9:08pm, with four fire engines roaring into action.
Firefighters Battle Blaze Amid Smoke Warnings
pCrew from Herstmonceux, Pevensey, and Eastbourne joined forces to tackle the blaze. Residents nearby were urged to keep doors and windows shut as thick smoke billowed through the area. The public has been advised to steer clear of Saxon Close for their own safety.
Fire Under Control – No Injuries Reported
ESFRS confirmed crews deployed four breathing apparatus sets and one hosereel jet to douse the flames. By 10:12pm, firefighters were dampening down hotspots and carefully checking debris to stop the fire reigniting.
No casualties have been reported so far, the fire service added.
The quick response helped prevent a tragedy in this East Sussex community.
