Firefighters Race to Remove Dangerous Cast Iron Pipe in Southsea

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service swung into action on the morning of January 5th. At around 11:40 am, they were called to a home in Festing Grove, Southsea, after reports of a partially falling cast iron pipe sparked serious safety fears.

Public Safety Priority: Footpath Shut Down

Crews from Southsea arrived swiftly and assessed the risk. They warned the pipe could fall and pose a threat to passersby. To keep the public safe, the footpath beneath was closed off immediately while firefighters checked the damage.

Specialist Ladder Saves the Day

Experts were called in with a specialist aerial ladder platform. Firefighters carefully manoeuvred the equipment, managing to detach and safely remove the hazardous pipe without incident. Thanks to quick action, the danger was eliminated before anyone got hurt.
