Emergency rush as two trains crash deep underground in London tunnel

Collision 42 metres below ground near Acton

Emergency services scrambled after two trains collided 42 metres underground in the Thames Tideway Tunnel on Friday night. The crash happened just after 11:20pm near Canham Road, Acton.

Injured trapped in tunnel, rescue underway

Paramedics from the Hazardous Area Response Team and London Fire Brigade crews rushed to the scene. One person is injured and trapped around 40 metres into the tunnel. Firefighters are working to recover the victim who remains underground.

Authorities silent as rescue continues

The London Fire Brigade have been approached for comment but have yet to respond. More updates are expected as the emergency develops.
