M2 Shut After Two-Car Smash Between Faversham and Sittingbourne
The M2 westbound is shut this morning after a serious two-car collision near Kent.
Emergency services rushed to the scene between Junction 6 (Faversham) and Junction 5 (Sittingbourne). National Highways confirmed the motorway closure will last well into the afternoon.
Road Closure Causes Major Delays
A National Highways spokesman said: “The M2 is closed westbound between Junction 6 for Faversham and Junction 5 for Sittingbourne due to a serious collision involving two vehicles. Emergency services, including police, are on the scene.
“Due to the severity of this incident, the road is likely to be closed for an extended period of time, throughout the morning and into the afternoon.”
Traffic Diverted via Longer Route
Westbound traffic is being rerouted off the M2 at Faversham onto the A251, then the A252, M20, and A249 before rejoining the motorway. Drivers are warned to expect delays and plan alternative routes.
