Four Horses Die in Blaze at Hatfield Broad Oak Stables
Fire crews raced to Wood Row, Hatfield Broad Oak, this morning after reports of a raging stable fire.
Flames Engulf Stables and Hedgerow
Watch Manager Mark Nevill from Leaden Roding Fire Station described the scene: “When we arrived, a row of stables and surrounding hedgerow were completely alight.”
Water supplies were scarce, forcing firefighters to set up a water shuttle to tackle the blaze.
Brave Firefighters Battle Blaze
Despite tough conditions, crews fought hard to bring the fire under control and extinguish it by 1.55pm. Sadly, four horses perished at the scene.
Investigation Underway
An inquiry into the cause of the fire is set to begin this afternoon.
