Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been hit with a brutal eight-match ban following a fiery sending-off. The Serbia star picked up a three-match suspension for the red card, another three for violent conduct, plus two more for “improper, abusive, insulting, and threatening” language.
On top of that, Fulham boss Marco Silva faces a two-match ban after his own sending-off.
Big Ban and Heavy Fine
Mitrovic’s misconduct hasn’t just cost him game time; he’s also been slapped with a £75,000 fine. This hammer blow could seriously dent Fulham’s chances in upcoming fixtures, as Mitrovic is a key player for the squad.
Calls for Even Harsher Punishment
Ex-Premier League striker Chris Sutton called for a savage 10-match ban for Mitrovic — a view shared by former referees’ chief Keith Hackett. Though the independent commission didn’t go that far, the eight-match ban still sends a strong message about the seriousness of Mitrovic’s actions.
