Man Busted for Robbery and Racial Abuse in Ashford
A 31-year-old man has been charged after a spree of crimes unfolded in Ashford early on Saturday morning.
Wallet Snatched in Alleyway Heist
Ashford High Street saw trouble when the victim’s belongings, including his wallet, were stolen in an alleyway around 1am on 7 March 2020.
Racial Abuse and Fraud at Local Shop
Just hours later, at 6.45am, police were called to a disturbance at a nearby shop. The suspect allegedly racially abused staff and hurled a shopping basket at them. It’s believed he used the stolen bank card to make fraudulent transactions at the store.
Luke Pope Faces Multiple Charges
Luke Pope, from Berridge Road, Sheerness, is now charged with robbery, assault, two counts of fraud, and using racially aggravated threatening words or behaviour.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 9 March and was remanded in custody. Pope awaits trial at Canterbury Crown Court on 6 April.
