At around 5:40am, the dual carriageway stretch of Sittingbourne Road near Detling Hill went up in smoke, triggering a full road closure. Kent Roads Policing shut both lanes, causing traffic chaos with jams stretching all the way back to the M2.
Firefighters Battle Blaze, Save Trailer
Kent Fire and Rescue sent two fire engines and a water carrier to the scene. Crews doused the flames using two hoses and jets, stopping the fire from reaching the loaded trailer. However, the road surface suffered damage from the intense heat.
