Warning for Gatwick Travellers: Beware Rogue ‘Meet and Greet’ Parking Firms
Travellers using “meet and greet” parking services at London Gatwick Airport are urged to tread carefully. Sussex Police and West Sussex Trading Standards reveal some companies are causing headaches with vehicle damage, extra mileage, and surprise fees from improper parking.
Police Urge ‘Do Your Homework’ on Parking Companies
Inspector James Biggs from Gatwick Police says: “Travellers should do their homework before choosing a ‘meet and greet’ service. Online tools can help you check companies before you hand over your keys.”
Gatwick Airport Disowns Rogue Parking Firms
Gary Wallace, Head of Parking at Gatwick, warns: “Gatwick Airport has no ties to these rogue firms, despite many flaunting the ‘Gatwick’ name. They operate legally but aren’t regulated by us.”
Wallace urges passengers to stick to well-reviewed companies on Trustpilot or TripAdvisor and recommends official airport parking for peace of mind.
How to Avoid Parking Nightmares
- Park directly with Gatwick Airport
- Use Trading Standards Approved businesses
- Check Buy With Confidence for vetted operators
Richard Sargeant, West Sussex Trading Standards Team Manager, adds: “It’s tough picking a trustworthy operator with so many options and scams out there.”
