Massive Fire Erupts at Heathrow Terminal 3 Car Park
A huge blaze broke out this morning in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 multi-storey car park, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Around 25 firefighters and four engines raced to the scene after a vehicle, believed to be electric, caught fire just after 9am.
Main Tunnel Shut as Emergency Crews Battle Blaze
The vital tunnel linking Terminals 1, 2, and 3 has been shut while firefighters tackle the inferno. The London Fire Brigade deployed teams from Heathrow, Hayes, and Feltham following eight separate calls reporting the fire. The cause is still unknown, but Heathrow swiftly closed Terminal 3 car park and warned of looming road chaos.
Heathrow Confirms Fire Quickly Extinguished
Heathrow spokesperson: “Earlier this morning our teams responded to a small vehicle fire in the Multi Storey Car Park for Terminal 3. The fire was quickly extinguished. The car park is temporarily closed, which may cause some congestion on surrounding roads. This is an isolated incident and all other car parks at Heathrow are operating as normal. We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience.”
Travel Havoc: Road Closures and Bus Reroutes
- Southbound M4 spur to Heathrow closed from Junction 4.
- Drivers urged to use Junction 3 on M4 or Junction 14 on M25 instead.
- Bus services to Terminal 3 rerouted, some now ending at Terminal 5.
Commuters are warned to expect delays and seek alternative routes to avoid traffic chaos.
