HGV Driver Banned After Being Caught with Shattered Windscreen on Motorway
Danger on the Roads: Shattered Windscreen Sparks Police Action
Police pulled over a lorry driver caught speeding down the motorway with a badly smashed windscreen. Officers from the Road Policing Unit (RPU) spotted the hazardous vehicle and stopped it before it could endanger other road users.
Driver Expected to Carry On – But Police Say No Way
Shockingly, the driver thought he could carry on, unload his cargo, and then cross the Channel to fix the windscreen. Instead, police slapped a traffic ban on the HGV, ordering it off the road until the screen is fully replaced. The vehicle was immediately parked up and the driver taken off the network.
Police Tough on Safety: No Exceptions for Unsafe Commercial Vehicles
Authorities issued a clear warning to all commercial drivers and operators: unsafe vehicles won’t be allowed to continue under any circumstances, especially when public safety is at risk.
A damaged windscreen compromises both the driver’s visibility and the safety of everyone on the road. This HGV will remain off the network until properly repaired.
