6,800 Post Office Card Account Holders Urged to Switch Before Cut-Off
More than 6,800 customers relying on Post Office card accounts for tax credits, Child Benefit, or Guardian’s Allowance must switch their accounts by 5 April 2022 to keep getting their payments without a hitch.
HMRC Cuts Off Payments to Post Office Card Accounts from 6 April
1 will stop paying into Post Office card accounts from 6 April. Those who haven’t updated their details must provide an alternative bank, building society, or credit union account to continue receiving payments. No valid account means no payouts, and that could hit family finances hard amid soaring living costs.
“Time is 1 out. We want to make sure customers don’t miss out on the benefits they’re entitled to. If you still need to switch your Post Office card account, contact HMRC to update your bank details,” said Myrtle Lloyd, HMRC’s Director General for Customer Services.
Thousands Already Switched – Don’t Get Left Behind
HMRC started alerting affected customers back in October 2019. So far, over 143,000 have successfully switched their accounts. If you haven’t, act now.
