Power Cut Hits 40 Homes in Gosport

Forty homes in Gosport’s Bridgemary district have been plunged into darkness tonight. A cable fault at the Downside substation knocked out power just after 10pm, leaving residents without light or heat amid strong winds.

Fault at Downside Substation

The power outage is due to a fault at the local substation. Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE) confirmed they have sent engineers to fix the issue. They expect to restore power by 1am.

Residents Left in the Cold

With gusty winds still battering the area, the blackout has left many homes powerless late into the night. SSE advised that while their usual call-back service ends at 10pm, affected residents can still get updates by calling 03450 721905.

“We are aware of the fault and have dispatched an engineer to fix the issue and restore power,” said an SSE spokesman. “We expect this to be completed by 1am.”
