Hundreds of electric buses, especially on Route 358, are faltering due to long routes, tight schedules, and poor charging infrastructure. Furious drivers have taken to social media to slam the system.
“The schedules don’t allow enough time to recharge between shifts. I feel sorry for passengers who have to deal with delays or even get kicked off mid-route,” one driver vented.
Another snapped, “They introduced these electric buses without making sure they can actually handle a full day’s 1. Great planning!!”
Passengers Left Stranded and Fuming
Commuters have been left high and dry after buses grind to a halt when batteries die unexpectedly. Missed appointments and long waits for backups are turning into the new normal.
“My bus just stopped in the middle of the route because the battery ran out. Driver said there was nothing he could do. Ridiculous!” shared one furious passenger on X (formerly Twitter).
TfL Scrambles to Fix the Electric Bus Fiasco
Transport for London (TfL) admits there’s a problem and promises to boost the electric fleet’s efficiency.
We are aware of reports regarding battery performance on some of our electric buses and are working closely with operators to ensure sufficient charging is available throughout the day,” said a TfL spokesman.
Experts Demand Proper Charging Infrastructure Now
Industry insiders warn the electric bus rollout has outpaced the charging network, causing the ongoing glitches.
