Firefighters Rescue Trio of Children Trapped on Isle of Wight Cliff

Three young children aged 11 and 13 were stranded on a cliff edge near St Boniface on the outskirts of Ventnor, Isle of Wight. Firefighters from Shanklin were called out just after 3.30pm on Tuesday to Leesland Road for the daring rescue.

Heatwave and High Drama at Cliff Edge

In scorching temperatures, brave firefighters scaled the cliff face using a rope pulley system. The trio had been exploring when they became trapped and called their mum, who immediately dialed 999.

Expert Rescue in Tough Terrain

Watch Manager Steve Chapman said the team had to free climb to reach the children. “Once we got access, the rescue was straightforward,” he added, confirming this kind of operation is one they regularly train for.

The youngsters stayed calm throughout the ordeal. The rescue happens amid summer safety warnings issued by Isle of Wight Council. More updates to follow.
