Jools Holland’s Hootenanny Returns Big for 30th Year

After two years of scaled-back shows, Jools Holland’s Hootenanny is back with a bang! The iconic New Year’s Eve bash returns with a full cast and live audience, marking the 30th anniversary of the legendary music party.

Star-Studded Line-Up of 2022’s Biggest Artists

Jools is joined by three huge acts who smashed 2022 with chart-topping hits. George Ezra returns with his third straight No.1 album Gold Rush Kid, performing its Top 3 hit “Green Green Grass” plus a Van Morrison classic.

Rotherham’s Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka Self Esteem, brings her fierce pop diva energy following her Mercury Prize-shortlisted album Prioritise Pleasure. She’ll perform a track from her album alongside a Diana Ross cover.

Cat Burns, whose smash hit “Go” was one of 2022’s best-sellers, also joins the bill. She’s tipped for even bigger things next year.

Classic Hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s

  • Welsh guitar hero Andy Fairweather Low, former Amen Corner lead, returns to strum some 60s gold.
  • Fine Young Cannibals frontman Roland Gift rocks the stage with hits including their US No.1 “Good Thing.”
  • 90s soul star Gabrielle marks 30 years since her debut smash “Dreams” with a special performance.
  • 70s soul legends The Real Thing, Britain’s most successful black group, bring their No.1 anthem “You To Me Are Everything.”

Special Guests and Festive Traditions

US jazz-pop duo Rachael & Vilray deliver fresh takes on 30s and 40s standards, while powerhouse vocalist Ruby Turner, the Boogie Woogie Queen, belts out classic tunes.

As midnight strikes, expect the stirring sound of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards Pipes & Drums, plus a few New Year’s resolutions from Jools and famed guests. It’s a festive feast of music and fun that you can enjoy live from 11.30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on December 31st, 2022.
