Green Recovery Voucher: Kent’s £1,500 Boost for Businesses Battered by Covid

Kent businesses hit hard by the pandemic can now tap into a new green cash boost. The Green Recovery Voucher Scheme hands firms up to £1,500 to invest in eco-friendly upgrades and services – helping them rebuild while going green.

What’s the Deal?

The scheme is part of the wider C-Care project, backed by a hefty €6.7 million fund from the European Regional Development Fund and the EU Interreg France (Channel) England programme. It’s all about getting UK and French Channel businesses back on their feet – with a climate-friendly twist.

Eligible firms in Kent can use vouchers for:

  • Energy efficiency measures – design, supply, installation
  • Waste reduction solutions
  • Sustainable transport development
  • Biodiversity projects
  • Planning for a Net Zero future

Only approved green service providers can deliver the work, ensuring quality and impact across the county.

Who’s It For?

Susan Carey, Kent County Council Cabinet Member, said: “Our strong network of small and medium enterprises is part of Kent’s identity. The Green Recovery Voucher Scheme is critical to assisting firms in rebuilding from the pandemic in an environmentally sustainable manner.”

She adds: “At a time when profit margins are being squeezed, this is a fantastic initiative. I encourage business owners to explore how it can help them.”

Businesses must show how the green solutions will aid their recovery while saving money in the long run.

How to Grab the Voucher

The scheme is up and running now, running until March 2023 or until funds run dry. Interested firms can find out more and apply at Kent County Council’s website. Initial consultations with advisors are available to help with the process.

The Green Recovery Voucher is managed by KCC’s Sustainable Business & Communities Team, part of a bigger push supporting Kent’s small and medium enterprises through green grant programmes. For more info on these projects, visit Low Carbon Kent.
