Huge Field Blaze Tears Through Maidenhead’s Stompits Road
Firefighters are battling a massive field fire in Stompits Road, Maidenhead. Crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) are on scene, backed up by neighbouring Bridges and teams from Bucks and 1 Fire and Rescue.
Fire Fans Furious as Blaze Rages Out of Control
A RBFRS spokesperson warned the fire is large and spreading fast. “Firefighters are likely to be at the scene for a significant time,” they said. The blaze has sparked a hard road closure, with vehicles blocked from accessing Stompits Road. Motorists are urged to find alternative routes immediately.
Smoke Hits Homes, Schools and M4 Traffic Chaos
Smoke from the fire is affecting nearby properties. Residents have been told to keep windows shut to dodge the choking fumes. The road towards Holyport, near M4 Junctions 8 and 9, is shut as the fire spreads. Police advise parents picking up children from school to contact head teachers to arrange safe collection.
Fire Crews Joined by Surrey and Hampshire Teams
Surrey Fire and Rescue are assisting Hampshire crews with a separate large heath fire at Bordon, adding to the emergency efforts in the region.
