Huge Woodyard Blaze Rocks Harrietsham! Firefighters launched a massive operation after a huge fire erupted at a woodyard near Maidstone on Sunday afternoon (June 1).

Massive Firefighters Response

The blaze broke out just after 4:15 PM, sending thick plumes of smoke across the rural skies. Kent Fire and Rescue Service scrambled six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a height vehicle to tackle the inferno.

Using powerful main jets, crews battled the flames for nearly three hours. The fire was finally declared out by 7:05 PM, but firefighters stayed on site to douse hotspots and secure the scene.

No Injuries as Flames Rage

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said, “Firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.”

The woodyard, known locally for storing timber, posed a serious fire risk, but quick action meant no homes or businesses were harmed.

Smoke Advisory and Investigation Underway

  • Local residents were urged to keep windows and doors shut while smoke lingered.
  • Kent Fire and Rescue is asking anyone with videos, photos, or info about the fire to get in touch to help with their investigation.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown as emergency crews continue their probe.
