More than 14,000 cyclists</strong thundered from London to Brighton on Sunday, taking on the iconic 54-mile bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and other top UK charities.
Riders rolled out from Clapham Common between 6am and 9:30am, battling the route all day to reach the finish on Madeira Drive in Brighton. Now in its 47th year, the event is a headline fundraiser, pulling in millions annually for heart and circulatory disease research.
Grind Up the Ditchling Beacon
The standout challenge of the ride was the famous Ditchling Beacon — a punishing mile-long climb near the South Downs that tests even the toughest cyclists.
“There’s a real sense of community,” said returning rider Rachel Moore. “It’s not a race—it’s about doing something meaningful together.”
Cheers, Charity & Community Spirit
Supported by hundreds of volunteers and medical staff, riders passed through bustling Surrey and Sussex villages, cheered on by locals lining the route.
Besides the British Heart Foundation, 2025’s ride featured cyclists supporting a host of national charities, including:
- Diabetes UK
- Mind
- Children with Cancer UK
- Centrepoint
- Twins Trust
