Man Arrested Over Shocking Surrey Murder of 88-Year-Old

A 41-year-old Lingfield man was arrested today (30 April) on suspicion of murder. He is now in police custody.

Victim Found with Fatal Head Injury

The victim, 88-year-old Dennis Kellond, was discovered at a Bletchingley Road address just before 11am on Monday (27 April). A post mortem revealed he died from a head injury.

Police Hunt for Clues and Witnesses

Officers have launched an intense investigation, including door-to-door inquiries, thorough local searches, and forensic checks. Patrols in the area have increased to reassure residents worried by the violent crime.

Chief Inspector Alan Sproston said: “This latest arrest should reassure the community that we are doing everything possible to solve this horrendous crime and bring those responsible to justice. Our thoughts are with Mr Kellond’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

Police want anyone who was in the A25/Bletchingley Road area of Godstone – between Ivy Mill Lane and Knights Way – from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 25 April to come forward. The road is busy with walkers, cyclists, and drivers.
