Drivers are stuck in major delays on the M2 coastbound this afternoon after a three-vehicle smash sparked five miles of heavy congestion near Faversham.
Multi-Vehicle Crash Brings Traffic to a Standstill
The crash, which happened just before 12pm, involved two vans and a car between Junction 5 (Stockbury Roundabout for Sittingbourne and Maidstone) and Junction 6 for Faversham. Emergency services swiftly shut all lanes, halting traffic completely as they dealt with the scene.
One lane is now open, but tailbacks stretch back to Junction 4 for Gillingham. National Highways warn motorists face delays up to an hour beyond usual journey times.
No Injuries Reported After Collision
Kent Police confirmed officers were called out around midday. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the M2 coastbound around 12pm following a multi-vehicle collision. The crash involved three vehicles and all traffic was temporarily held. No injuries have been reported.”
Highways teams remain on site managing the lane closure and clearing the wreckage.
Motorists Urged to Avoid M2 and Seek Alternatives
