M20 Chaos as Police Patrol Car Goes Up in Flames
Part of the M20 motorway has been slammed shut after a police car burst into flames during rush hour. The blaze broke out between junctions 11 and 10, sparking mayhem for drivers heading to London.
Patrol Car Engulfed in Flames
Emergency crews rushed to the scene after the Kent Roads Policing Patrol car caught fire. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky around 4pm as the BMW patrol car was quickly consumed by flames.
Thankfully, the two officers inside escaped without a scratch. Kent Police even joked about the fiery incident on Twitter, referencing the cult film Hot Fuzz.
Major Delays and Road Closures
The M20 remains closed for hours with enormous queues building up on the Londonbound side, causing headaches for drivers during peak traffic. Firefighters battled the blaze in full breathing gear using a hose reel jet.
A fire service spokesman said: “The M20 was closed while firefighters tackled a fire which had taken hold of a car between junctions 11 and 10. There are no reports of any injuries.”
Patrol Car Totally Wrecked
Sadly, the police vehicle was completely destroyed by the flames, bringing a dramatic end to what should have been a routine patrol.
