M25 Shuts Down After Tyre-Laden Lorry Goes Up in Flames
A huge section of the M25 is closed both ways after a lorry packed with tyres caught fire early this afternoon. The blaze broke out shortly after 1:00pm between junction 29 (Romford) and junction 30 (Dartford).
HGV Engulfed in Flames, Thick Smoke Seen for Miles
The heavy goods vehicle, travelling clockwise, was completely engulfed in flames. Thick black smoke billowed from the burning tyres, visible for miles around. Dramatic footage shows the HGV parked on the hard shoulder as emergency crews tackle the blaze.
Major Delays and Diversions in Place
“The lorry is carrying tyres, which are alight and producing delays of at least 60 minutes on the anticlockwise carriageway, and diversions are in place,” said a spokesperson at the scene.
Motorists are warned to expect significant delays as the fire is brought under control and the stretch remains closed all day.
