M25 Shut Both Ways After Man Threatens to Jump from Bridge
Chaos Erupts on UK’s Busiest Motorway
The M25 motorway ground to a halt in the early hours of Monday after a distressed man threatened to jump from an overbridge. Police and Highways England shut down eight lanes to deal with the tense situation.
Desperate Call Sparks Major Police Operation
A barefoot man standing on the Ockham Lane Bridge, between junctions 9 and 10 near Wisley, dialled 999 around 1:50 a.m. He told officers he was suicidal but didn’t want to jump because of the cars below, a police source revealed.
Officers immediately sealed off the bridge with cordon tape, sending trained negotiators to the scene to talk the man down.
Man Rescued and Rushed to Hospital
After tense negotiations, the man agreed to come down safely. Police took him into custody and South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed him to hospital for evaluation.
Motorway Mayhem and Silence from Police
The drama caused major delays on both sides of the M25 for nearly two hours. Surrey Police have since refused to comment further or release any extra details about the incident.
