M25 Shut Near Heathrow After Serious Lorry and Car Smash
The M25 has been slammed shut near Heathrow Airport following a serious crash involving a lorry and a car. The closure stretches between junction 14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and junction 16 (M40).
Chaos on the Clockwise M25
National Highways confirmed the major incident early Tuesday, March 28. The collision, reported just before midnight on Monday, has forced emergency services to shut the clockwise carriageway.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the M25 at junction 14 at 11.55pm on March 27 following reports of a collision involving a HGV and a car. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.”
Detours and Delays: Avoid the Area
National Highways has put a detour in place. Drivers are advised to exit the M25 at junction 14 and navigate a brief route via the M40 before rejoining at junction 16. With planned overnight roadworks shutting the M4/M25 link roads, traffic is being redirected onto the M25 at junction 16, causing even more delays.
“Motorists planning to travel in the area should avoid it altogether and seek alternative routes,” National Highways warned.
Emergency Services Scramble to Scene
Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and National Highways Traffic Officers are all on site dealing with the aftermath of the collision. The incident has brought heavy disruption to one of Britain’s busiest motorway sections.
