Serious Crash Shuts M3 Eastbound Between M25 J2 and J1
A major smash on the M3 in Surrey has forced the eastbound carriageway to shut between Junction 2 for the M25 and Junction 1 (A316/A308 Staines Road, Sunbury).
M3 Eastbound Closed After Silver Mercedes Hits Central Reservation
A Silver Mercedes smashed into the central reservation on the M3 eastbound, triggering a full closure of two lanes. Emergency services rushed to the scene, with Surrey Roads Policing and Highways England traffic officers leading the response.
Drivers Diverted via M25 J13, A30 and A308
Police have advised drivers to avoid the chaos by taking the M25 at Junction 13, then following the A30 and A308 routes instead. Additionally, the slip road from the M25 clockwise at Junction 12 to the M3 eastbound has also been shut down due to the collision.
Emergency Crews Confirm No One Trapped
Fire and Rescue teams from Camberley, Woking and Staines confirmed they were called just after 11:25am on Friday 13 April. Crews conducted scene safety checks on the single vehicle involved, and thankfully, no one was trapped. All fire units have now left the scene.
Closure Expected To Last Until Rush Hour
Police state the M3 is fully closed eastbound from the M25 and are working flat out to clear the incident. They hope to reopen the road in time for the evening rush hour. Motorists are warned to expect delays and plan alternative routes.
