M4 Prince of Wales Bridge SHUT! Dangerous winds slam Gloucestershire-Wales link, causing chaos for drivers.

Storm Darragh Forces Double Bridge Closure

Strong winds from Storm Darragh have shut the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge in both directions. The iconic crossing between Gloucestershire and Wales is off limits for now. To make matters worse, the nearby M48 Severn Bridge is also closed due to severe gusts.

That leaves motorists stranded with few options for crossing the Severn Estuary. Safety is top priority, say officials.

Use M5 and M50 as Diversions

Drivers heading to Wales are told to divert via the M5 and M50 routes. The South West Regional Operations Centre is keeping a close eye on wind speeds. It will reopen the bridges only when it’s safe.

Advice for Stranded Drivers

  • Expect longer journey times – delays are inevitable.
  • Re-route or delay trips if you can.
