A huge fire has ripped through two terraced houses on Third Avenue, Dagenham, sparking a major emergency response from the London Fire Brigade this afternoon.
100 Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames
The inferno broke out at 1:33 PM, quickly drawing around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines from Barking, Hornchurch, Leytonstone, and nearby fire stations. The crews are locked in a tough fight to control the blaze.
Commander Urges Caution Amid Smoke and Road Closures
Station Commander Darren McTernan, leading the operation, said: “Crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.” He warned locals to keep windows and doors shut due to thick smoke and told motorists to avoid the area, warning of heavy congestion and road closures.
Investigations Underway as Calls Flood In
The Brigade’s Control Officers have handled around 50 emergency calls about the blaze so far. The cause remains unknown, with investigations ongoing as firefighters continue their efforts to contain the fire.
