Massive Coastguard Hunt Underway for Missing Fisherman Off Applecross
A full-scale search and rescue operation is in motion after a fishing boat was found stranded on rocks off the Applecross coast, Scotland. The engine was still running, but the fisherman was nowhere to be seen.
Urgent 999 Call Sparks Rescue Blitz
Just after 2.30pm today (20 November), HM Coastguard got a 999 call from a member of the public reporting a fishing vessel stuck on rocks south of Applecross. The alarm triggered an immediate response involving Applecross Coastguard Rescue Teams, Kyle and Portree Lifeboats, and a HM Coastguard rescue chopper from Stornoway.
Empty Boat Found, Search Intensifies
Upon reaching the scene, crews discovered the boat abandoned. The fisherman is still missing. Nearby fishing vessels have joined the frantic hunt after the Coastguard issued a Mayday relay broadcast.
