Urgent Search in Langstone Harbour for Missing Fishboat and Three Onboard
A frantic search is underway this evening after a 14-foot fishing boat named ‘Kelkeir’ sent a mayday call from Langstone Harbour, with three people missing in the water.
Mayday Sparks Massive Rescue Effort
Emergency crews sprang into action around 7:30pm following reports that the Kelkeir was sinking just off the Solent. Witnesses spotted several people struggling in the water, many without lifejackets.
RNLI and Coastguard Race to Scene
Aaron Gent, spokesperson for the RNLI, warned about the dangers of unfamiliar waters. “Experience and knowledge of the area are vital,” he said.
The RNLI lifeboat launched shortly after 8pm, working alongside a police launch and the Solent coastguard helicopter. The stricken boat was located and towed to a nearby sandbank within Langstone Harbour.
