Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for impersonating a police officer near the Gosport Ferry terminal. The incident occurred early this morning (11 July) around 3:30 AM, when a man approached members of the public on the High Street and near the terminal, claiming to be a police officer and making demands.
Reports indicate that the suspect grabbed a woman by the throat and inappropriately touched a man on the buttocks. The individual has been arrested on suspicion of impersonating a police constable, common assault, and sexual assault. He remains in custody at this time.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been approached, stopped, or searched by a man purporting to be a police officer in this area at the stated time, or who had any interactions with the suspect, to come forward with information.
