Shovel Attack Shuts Down M25’s Cobham Services
Chaos erupted at Cobham Services on the M25 after a man was viciously attacked with a shovel. Police swooped just after 3.30pm on Monday, sealing off the busy service station between junction 9 Leatherhead and junction 10 A3.
Man Airlifted with Serious Head Injuries
An ambulance and air ambulance rushed to the scene. The victim was found collapsed and badly injured. He was swiftly airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for urgent treatment.
Staff were evacuated through a back exit as police closed the Shell petrol station and blocked off the area. Officers carried out a detailed search around a blue Ford Focus found at the scene.
Eyewitness Describes Horrific Attack
A shaken witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said two men attacked the victim before fleeing in a works van. “It all happened so fast, it was really scary,” they said.
“The man was just lying there in a heap and looked in a terrible state. The air ambulance crew worked on him for what felt like ages.”
