Tragic M20 Crash Near Ashford Claims Man’s Life
A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a tanker lorry on the M20 near Ashford. The fatal smash happened at around 7.45am this morning on the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 10a and 11.
M20 Shut for Six Hours in Morning Chaos
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the spot. The crash involved two cars, a van, and the tanker lorry, close to the bridge by Evegate Business Park in Smeeth.
Traffic on the London-bound side was briefly stopped to allow an air ambulance to land as paramedics worked at the scene.
Motorway Reopens After Lengthy Closure – Drivers Thanked for Patience
Drivers were diverted onto the A20 while National Highways cleared the wreckage. The motorway reopened around 2pm after a six-hour closure.
National Highways said there are now “no excessive delays in the area” and thanked motorists for their patience during the disruption.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the pile-up. Anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to contact police urgently.
