Brutal Serial Rapist Gets Jail
Nicholas Peel, 55, has been sentenced to nine years behind bars for raping a woman four times and attempting a fifth assault. The events, spanning from 2015 to 2020, involved a victim in her 50s who knew Peel personally. The jury at Salisbury Crown Court found Peel guilty in March, with his sentencing taking place today at Winchester Crown Court.
Lifetime Sex Offender Register & Restraining Order
Alongside his prison term, Peel will be placed on the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely and slapped with a restraining order. The judge condemned Peel’s repeated attacks and abuse of the victim’s trust over several years.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“I’d like to praise the victim in this case for having the courage and conviction to see this case through, which has resulted in Nicholas Peel being jailed for his abhorrent actions,” said DC Jo Newbery of Central CID. “Peel denied the offences, forcing her to relive the trauma during trial. Her bravery in giving evidence and statements ensured the jury convicted him.” “I hope this sentence encourages other survivors of sexual violence to come forward. We are here to support you.”
