Police Probe Turns Up No Offence
Police Scotland consulted with the Met Police and British Transport Police to launch an investigation. The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards was kept in the loop. Detectives checked CCTV footage and reviewed test dates, results, and travel plans. They considered if the MP had breached Regulation 11(2) of the Health Protection Regulations 2020, which requires self-isolation.
Legal Loophole Clears MP
After thorough legal advice, officers found that the specific self-isolation rules only applied after 28 September 2020. The MP’s positive test was before that date, meaning the regulation didn’t apply to her trip. The Met Police announced no further action would be taken. They have passed the case back to Police Scotland for any next steps.
