Mike Tyson’s Scary Health Scare Halts Fight with Jake Paul
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has opened up about a terrifying medical emergency that forced him to scrap his blockbuster fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul earlier this year.
The 58-year-old was rushed to hospital in July with a severe stomach ulcer, leading to the postponement of the high-profile bout. The fight is now locked in for November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Tyson’s Near-Death Experience
In Netflix’s new doc Countdown: Paul vs Tyson, Tyson revealed the hair-raising details of his ordeal.
“A week and a half, I was training and doing great,” Tyson said. “Then I started feeling tired. I was explaining to my trainer, I don’t know what is wrong with me.”
The situation worsened mid-flight from Miami to Los Angeles.
“On the plane, I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood. The next thing I knew, I was on the floor. I was defecating tar.”
Doctors later found a massive two-and-a-half inch ulcer eating away at his stomach. Tyson admitted he feared for his life:
“I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and she didn’t say no. She said, ‘We have options,’ and that’s when I got nervous.”
Ready to Rumble Again
Despite the scare, Tyson is ready to make a roaring comeback.
“I don’t want to die in a hospital bedroom. I want to die in the ring.”
Before the fight, Tyson will undergo a strict health check by Texas regulators to confirm he’s fit to fight.
Huge Age Gap Fuels Doubts and Drama
The fight has stirred debate due to the massive 31-year age gap between Tyson (58) and Paul (27) — the largest in professional boxing history.
Critics question if Tyson should be back in the ring against a much younger foe, but Tyson remains fearless, vowing to “finish” Paul once and for all.
Fight Night Details
- Eight rounds, two minutes each
- Both fighters wear 14-ounce gloves
- No headgear
This will be Tyson’s first official fight since 2005 and his first ring action since a 2020 exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr. Jake Paul last fought in February, crushing Ryan Bourland in the opening round.
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, promising a massive audience for this historic clash.
The Ultimate Test of Legends
Fans and critics are on the edge of their seats as Tyson looks to prove age is just a number, while Paul aims to solidify his spot as a serious boxing contender.
