Tragedy on Interstate 80: Nebraska State Patrol mourns Trooper Kyle McAcy #302, who was fatally struck by a snowplow while attending a crash scene.
Crash Response Ends in Tragedy
Trooper Kyle McAcy, a ten-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, was killed in the line of duty today. While responding to a traffic accident near mile marker 424 on Interstate 80 between Ashland and Greenwood, McAcy was hit by a passing snowplow outside his patrol car.
Despite immediate aid from fellow officers, McAcy sadly died at the scene. The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is now leading the investigation into the fatal collision.
NSP Pays Heartfelt Tribute
Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, expressed deep sorrow over the loss:
“Our NSP family is devastated today. Kyle was a dedicated trooper, a devoted public servant, and most importantly, a good friend to many in Omaha and beyond. His loss is being felt by countless people. Please keep his family, friends, colleagues, and community in your hearts as they deal with this unimaginable loss.”

The Nebraska State Patrol will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 18 February 2025, at their State Headquarters in Lincoln (4600 Innovation Drive, Lincoln, NE, 68521).
Plans to honour Trooper McAcy’s legacy and details of memorial services will be announced soon. The entire law enforcement community stands united in mourning the loss of a true public servant.
