Detectives have cracked new CCTV evidence in the probe into 48-year-old Ian Airlie’s fatal fall. The footage, captured at Waterloo Station, reveals Mr Airlie slipped by accident — putting to rest fears he was pushed down the escalator.

Detectives Quash Foul Play Claims

On Wednesday 22 January, officers reviewed fresh CCTV from the busy London hub. Detailed scrutiny confirmed a tragic accident with no hint of foul play.

Detective Inspector Chris Rogers said: “This new evidence means we have been able to rule out that Mr Airlie was pushed. His fall down the escalator was a very sad and unfortunate accident.”

“His death remains unexplained, and we will continue to investigate all angles until we get the full picture.”

Investigation Presses On Despite Inconclusive Post-Mortem

A post-mortem on 29 October 2024 came back inconclusive. Police now await further test results to pinpoint a cause of death.
