Massive National Grid Convoy to Slam Local Roads – Brace for Chaos!
Gigantic 300-Tonne Loads Trigger Road Shutdowns
The National Grid is moving colossal equipment crucial for powering our homes and businesses. Each load weighs a staggering 300 tonnes and stretches over 70 metres long. Shifting these monsters won’t be easy and will cause major disruption along the route.
A27 Shuts Between Ashcombe and Southerham
Expect the A27 to be closed between Ashcombe and Southerham roundabouts. Traffic will be diverted via the A270, A259, and A26, causing headaches for daily commuters. Parking restrictions will also come into force – watch out for advance warning signs.
Police to Manage Traffic Mayhem
To keep everyone safe, police will hold traffic when needed to clear a path for these gargantuan loads. Measures include removing street furniture, enforcing parking bans, and temporarily stopping traffic. Officials stress the route is carefully planned to ensure safe passage through the county.
Timings and Apologies for Inconvenience
- Loads leave 1 Docks at 9am.
- Expected arrival at Polegate between 5pm and 6pm.
- Then on to Bexhill and Ninfield, arriving between 7pm and 8pm.
Timings may shift based on traffic progress. The National Grid apologises in advance for any inconvenience but says this essential work can’t be delayed. Road-users, prepare for jams!
