Massive Fire Rips Through Ocado Warehouse in Erith
Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters raced to tackle a fierce blaze at the Ocado warehouse on Church Manorway, Erith. The battle is still ongoing at the vast site.
Deep-Seated Blaze Poses Tough Challenge
The huge three-storey warehouse, split into 30 loading bays, is struggling against a stubborn, deep-seated fire. Fire crews are battling tough conditions inside the building.
“Firefighters worked hard in hot and arduous conditions inside the warehouse. Around 800 staff evacuated before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries. The fire is very deep-seated and firefighters will continue to be at the scene into Saturday (17 July) damping down hot spots,” said Station Commander Steve Vydelingum.
Swift Response, Ongoing Efforts
- The Brigade was alerted at 12.42pm.
- The fire was brought under control by 2.17am.
- Crews from Bexley, Plumstead, Millwall, Lee Green, Greenwich, and Eltham fire stations joined the fight.
Cause of Fire Still Unknown
