  2. Rolls Royce (Derby): £4.8 million to develop micro reactors to power future space missions.
  3. SuperSharp (Cambridge): £5 million to create a heat-detecting telescope tackling the climate crisis.
  4. Lúnasa (Harwell): £1 million to build and test tech for safe satellite docking.
  5. Orbit Fab (Harwell): £1.3 million to develop satellite refuelling tech.
  6. Wayland Additive (Huddersfield): £2.7 million to innovate electric propulsion systems.
  7. Spire Global (Glasgow): £3.5 million to pioneer unique weather forecasting tech.
  8. ETL Systems (Hereford): £690,000 to advance satellite ground stations linking to 5G and 6G networks.

Government Voices: Space Tech for Earth and Economy

“From combating climate change to keeping us connected, space technology touches all our lives,” said DSIT Secretary of State Peter Kyle. “Backing UK space firms drives economic growth, productivity, and creates wealth nationwide. Our £33 million invest shows the huge potential the UK holds, especially as we team up with global partners.”

‘Kick Starter’ Projects Get £9 Million Nod

Another 15 early-stage ‘Kick Starter’ projects share £9 million. These ventures focus on orbit servicing, advanced materials, satellite imagery, and more, pushing the frontiers of space tech.

Dr Paul Bate, CEO of the UK Space Agency, added: “These projects will fuel growth, create quality jobs, protect our planet, and preserve space for future generations. They’re at the heart of our mission to back innovation and spread opportunity across the UK, delivering space benefits right back to Earth.”

Industry Cheers National Investment

John Hanley, Chair of UKspace trade association, stated: “This funding proves how crucial national programmes are to unlocking innovation across the UK. We hope it further boosts the sector and builds on recent growth.”
